Tamiana Android App Privacy Policy

1. Overview & Scope
This Privacy Policy applies specifically to the Tamiana Android Mobile Application ("App"). It outlines how our mobile application handles device permissions, hardware access, user credentials, and personal data in accordance with Google Play Developer Program Policies.
2. Device Permissions & Use Cases
The Tamiana Android app requests explicit permission for the following hardware features:
Camera Permission (CAMERA)
Used exclusively for real-time barcode scanning of grocery items, receipt OCR scanning, and photographing kitchen inventory. Images captured by the camera are processed on-device (via Google MLKit) or sent over HTTPS to Tamiana servers solely to extract item information. Photos are never shared with third parties or used for tracking.
Microphone Permission (RECORD_AUDIO)
Used solely for hands-free voice input (speech-to-text) to allow users to add items to shopping lists and navigate recipes while cooking. Audio data is streamed directly to the device's native speech recognition service and is not retained or recorded on Tamiana servers.
Internet Access (INTERNET)
Used to synchronize pantry inventory, recipes, household meal plans, and account preferences with your Tamiana user account using encrypted TLS/HTTPS connections.
3. Data Security & Storage
All network traffic between the Tamiana Android app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS (TLS 1.2/1.3). We do not permit cleartext HTTP traffic. Credentials and OAuth tokens stored on device are protected using standard Android security keychains.
4. Account & Data Deletion Requests
In compliance with Google Play User Data policies, users can request complete account and personal data deletion at any time:
- In-App: Navigate to Profile / Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the Android app.
- Web Portal: Log into Tamiana Account Settings and select Delete Account.
- Email Request: Send an email from your registered address to support@tamiana.com with the subject line Account Deletion Request. Upon receipt, all user data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
